Supporting Teaching and Learning in Post-secondary Education

Does your college really support teaching and learning?

Tomorrow's Professor has a listserv and a corresponding blog to collect its articles, many of which are really useful for the kind of work that the LTC does. One the latest ones is about how institutes support teaching and learning or not and what can be done to improve in this area.

This particular article sets out some clear, fundamental principles for what a program on supporting faculty should focus on, including:

  • emphasizing critical reflection rather than remediation
  • welcoming variety over the one-right-way to teach
  • integrating teaching with research

Apart from the topic, I like the way Tomorrow's Professor has multiple channels to its content (email listserv, web archive, blog) so users can choose whatever way they like.
