(MOOCs) Massively Online Open Courses seem to be the educational technology flavour of the day but what is a MOOC? George Siemens, a MOOC pioneer, sheds some light on this question in his most recent blog post by making two key points:
1) there are two MOOC models - connectivst MOOCs (cMOOCs) and instructivist (although he doesn't use this term MOOCs (xMoocs).
2) MOOCs are a platform that provide an "ecosystem for specialized functionality in the same way that Facebook, iTunes, and Twitter created an ecosystem for app innovation."
